Hai Thai Cao

Early Life and Journey to Freedom

Born in Saigon, Republic of Vietnam, Hai embarked on a quest for freedom alongside his parents and siblings. Following the North Vietnamese communist invasion of South Vietnam on April 30, 1975, the family set sail on a ship captained by Hai’s father, navigating through a perilous journey to reach the United States.

By early June 1975, Hai and his family arrived in Seattle, Washington. Just a week later, Hai demonstrated his resilience and determination by securing a job as a janitor on the graveyard shift at Seattle Central Community College while attending classes during the day. This perseverance paid off in March 1980, when Hai earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Washington in Seattle.

Professional Growth

Hai's engineering career began with an offer to join General Electric’s Manufacturing Management Program as a manufacturing engineer in the Nuclear Energy Division. Concurrently, he pursued graduate studies in System Engineering at San Jose State University, completing the GE Manufacturing Management program in June 1982.

Over the years, Hai gained extensive experience in the technology and aerospace industries. His career highlights include:

- 1984: Joined Harris Corporation as Manager of Manufacturing.

- 1986: Transitioned to John Fluke Manufacturing.

- 1988: Joined Advanced Technology Labs.

- 1990: Became part of the engineering staff at a space electronics company, which was later acquired by Rocket Research. There, Hai contributed to the design and production of electric propulsion rocket engines used to maneuver satellites in orbit.

- 2011: Joined International Rectifier as Senior Program Manager, overseeing multimillion-dollar space programs.

- 2015: Became a member of the senior management team at Sparton Corporation’s Georgia division.

Hai also serves as the Founder and President of CTH Consultant Services, based in Atlanta, Georgia.

Personal Beliefs and Political Passion

Hai’s passion for the U.S. political system was ignited during Ronald Reagan’s presidency. He admired Reagan’s policies, including “Peace Through Strength” and supply-side economics. Having firsthand experience with the hardships of communism, Hai deeply values conservative principles, a free-market economy, limited government intervention, and lower taxes as a means to enrich people’s lives.

Commitment to Public Service

After a long and successful career in engineering and electronics, Hai reached the pinnacle of his field as a senior leader in space technology. Inspired to give back, he decided to apply his leadership experience and program management expertise to serve his community. Driven by a commitment to protect democratic values, Hai aims to contribute as a legislator, embodying the spirit of service and gratitude.

Political Involvement

In 2020, Hai served as a member of the executive board of the Gwinnett County Republican Party, contributing to the local political landscape and supporting conservative initiatives.

In 2022, Hai resigned from the Executive Board after the Georgia Republican Party qualified him to be a nominee for the Georgia General Assembly in the 2022 mid-term election.

In July 2024, Hai was elected as a Georgia delegate to the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to nominate the Republican Presidential candidate, Donald J. Trump, for the November 5th Presidential election. Following this, Hai will be part of the Georgia National Electors team to cast the Electoral College votes on December 17th, formally confirming candidate Donald J. Trump as President-Elect of the 2024 Presidential Election.
